Boxing Betting – McBride To Be Brought Down To Earth By Wach
The world of boxing turns its attention to the WBC International heavyweight title bout between Undefeated Polish heavyweight contender Mariusz Wach (1.118*) and Irish strongman Kevin McBride (6.510*).
The bout is set for 12-rounds at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on July 29th.
Irish veteran Kevin McBride (35-9-1, 29 KOs) is considered as the heavy underdog. Despite this, the man who ended Mike Tyson’s career six years ago is threatening to put an end to another promising career before it has a chance to blossom.
The Tyson victory was McBride’s showpiece in what has been an ordinary career in the heavyweight division.
The Irishman has suffered six career losses by knockout to fighters with no real pedigree – with the exception of Tomasz Adamek.
Since beating Tyson, McBride suffered three demoralising defeats, firstly against Mike Mollo in a second-round knockout loss, and then against Andrew Golota in a sixth round technical knockout.
After three years in retirement McBride made a dreadful return in an eight rounder against the cruiserweight veteran Zack Page. McBride was outclassed and hurt by his smaller and faster, opponent.
Just six months after this humiliating defeat, McBride fought former cruiserweight and light heavyweight world champion Tomasz Adamek. Adamek won the 12-round bout with a unanimous decision.
Despite his lack of world class pedigree, a win over Wach on the 29th would bring McBride one step closer to a shot at the world title.
On the other hand, the undefeated Polish heavyweight contender Mariusz Wach (24-0, 12 KO) is the favourite to beat McBride and then move on to a title fight with either of the Klitschko brothers.
Wach, who last fought on February 19th in a knockout win over Jonathan Haggler, has benefited from the tutelage of trainers Juan and Carlos De Leon.
Wach has a far superior technical ability than McBride, and will expect to make light work of his opponent.
